A chest of drawers is a handy thing when you are going into storage.
Shamokin Dam Secure Self Storage: You have found a self storage place that will meet your needs and now you must begin to decide how you will carefully move and store your furniture. You want to use it when you move into the bigger home, or you will be able to sell it if it’s been stored well and is still in good shape.
Beds are bulky but can be easily stored because they tend to be squared off and fit well. You must take them apart so the head and foot boards, the side frame, and the cross pieces are all separate. Tape them together or wrap twine or webbing around the sets of pieces. Before you disassemble the bed, mark each of the pieces so you’ll know where it belongs when you unpack it. All of the rails and cross supports, if there are any, can be tied together. Hardware and fasteners should be collected and either taped to each rail or placed in a plastic bag and attached to the frame. Mark the bag in case it gets separated from the bed.

A chest of drawers is a handy thing when you are going into storage. The drawers themselves can be used to securely and safely store delicate or breakable knick knacks and other items. Pack clothing around breakables to help cushion them. When you move the dresser, take out all of the drawers and move the main frame into place. Then replace the drawers in the dresser where everything will live happily until you are ready to move them out. Wrap a rope or tape around the drawers when moving so the drawers don’t slip open and fall out in transit.
Chairs can be challenging because of their awkward inability to be folded up or disassembled. Wrap the legs in paper, or if they are ornate, bubble wrap or foam. Stack them with one upside down on the other, seat to seat. You can then place blankets, pillows, and other odd shaped items inside the spaces left open.
Tables are easier to store if you can remove the legs first. With many tables you can remove the legs and store them in the under cavity beneath the table top. Place all of the fasteners and hardware together in a plastic bag and mark it clearly. Fasten it to the underside of the table so you will have all the pieces when you want to take it out of storage and use it.
